BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
Released in May 2025 as an international release, the Storm Blue !Q brings an interesting technical update to the legendary !Q series. Visually it shows up in a deep, rich blue with a shiny 1500-grit polished finish. At its heart sits the iconic C3 Centripetal Control Core, now equipped with the modern A.I. Core Technology (RG 2.48, diff 0.031 at 15 lbs). This modification keeps the extremely low differential values for maximum control, but improves energy transfer at the pin deck. The cover is the R2X Nano Pearl Reactive surface. This combination is unique: while the pearl content lets the ball glide easily through the heads, the Nano technology (similar to NRG materials) adds microscopic teeth that keep the ball from slipping in the oil. As a result, the ball feels less "plastic-like" in the hand than pure pearls and promises a very predictable reaction.
Comparison
Compared to the popular Storm !Q Tour Ruby (R2S Pearl), the Blue !Q shows a distinctly different character: where the Ruby goes very cleanly through the heads and often reacts angularly at the end of the lane, the Blue !Q reads the lane earlier thanks to the R2X Nano Pearl cover. It is smoother and less prone to over/under reactions than the Ruby. Another important comparison is the original Storm !Q Tour (Solid). The Blue !Q offers more length than the solid classic, but keeps its famous round motion instead of turning the corner abruptly like many pearls. Performance-wise it slots in exactly between the !Q Tour Solid and the !Q Tour Ruby. Next to a Storm Phaze V, the Blue !Q comes across as more controlled and less aggressive in the backend, which makes it the safer choice on difficult patterns.
On the Lanes
The Storm Blue !Q is made for conditions where the front part of the lane has already lost some oil (transition) but you still need traction to keep from sliding past the pocket. It is not a ball for heavy oil — it lacks the flare potential for that. Its strength lies in controlling friction: when stronger balls hook too early and pure pearls react too erratically, the Blue !Q is the answer. It smooths out the breakpoint, and thanks to the A.I. technology it provides improved carry even when the entry angle isn't perfect. For sport bowlers it is an indispensable tool on short to medium patterns or in late squads, keeping the boards tight and regaining control of the pocket.
