First Impressions
The Lane Masters Blue Diamond Limited comes as a Limited Edition Blue Diamond PEARL version and belongs to the Diamond series from Legends/Lane Masters. The ball features the DYNASTY ver..2 Core with a 2.569 RG and a 0.054 differential. The XRT 1321-ANT-IVIT Pearl coverstock was sanded with 1000 Abralon and then polished. The ball was released in January 2021 and is designed for medium to heavy oil volumes. The combination of a symmetrical core and a pearl coverstock should deliver a longer and more controlled ball reaction that can play to its strengths especially as lane conditions change.
Comparison
In a direct comparison with the Pure Diamond, the Blue Diamond Limited proves noticeably more aggressive: the Blue Diamond Limited is about 4 boards stronger than the Pure Diamond. While both balls are excellent for broken-down lanes or later tournament blocks, the Limited offers more backend potential. The DYNASTY ver..2 core creates easy length with a strong arc over the last 20 feet of the lane, much like the Black Pearl from 2006, which used the same core. Compared to other pearls in its category, it shows a more balanced midlane reaction and less abrupt direction changes, which makes it more versatile than more aggressive competing balls.
On the Lanes
The Blue Diamond Limited is an excellent choice if you're looking for very clean passage through the mids and a controlled move to the pocket. The ball gets through the heads cleanly, reads the midlane very nicely and works its way to the pocket. If you have a medium rev rate in particular, you'll benefit from its versatility, since it can be used on a variety of patterns. It shows its strengths above all on sport shots and when the transition is irregular. The ball works both as a second option in the arsenal and as a main ball for longer tournament sessions, since it remains usable in tournaments running more than 3 games. For power players it offers enough continuation, while lower rev players benefit from its controlled reaction.
