First Impressions
The Hammer Black Widow Limited draws plenty of attention with its aggressive Black, Gold and Red Pearl design. At its center works the massive asymmetric Gas Mask core, featuring a 2.500 RG, a huge 0.058 differential and an intermediate differential of 0.016. This core is wrapped in the Semtex Pearl coverstock, finished with a high-gloss polish. The medium RG lets the core rotate very definitely, which in combination with the smooth surface should let the ball travel through the heads effortlessly and create a tremendous, angular move in the backend.
Comparison
In a direct comparison with the Hammer Dark Legend Solid, the Black Widow Limited shows a drastically later and far more angular, more dominant reaction. Compared to the Storm Snap Lock, the Black Widow Limited behaves very similarly, but the Gas Mask core often generates an even more asymmetric and more radical backend motion. Once the transition sets in during a block and friction increases on the outside boards, the extremely strong pearl surface stores energy perfectly. It does, however, need a certain amount of oil in the heads.
On the Lanes
The Hammer Black Widow Limited was developed for use on medium to heavy lane conditions. It allows you to generate the necessary hook even from extremely deep angles in order to cross the boards effectively. The asymmetric core should optimize carry through a steady, heavy and consistent entry angle into the pocket. On extremely dry conditions this ball is completely unplayable; it overreacts immediately and misses the pins.
