BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Hammer Black Widow Dark Night is a special release that was originally designed for the international market and gained wider availability in April 2023. Visually, the ball shows up in a somber combination of black and purple ("Dark Night"). Inside works the legendary Gas Mask core, an asymmetric design with a 2.500 RG and a very high differential of 0.058 (at 15 lbs). These numbers guarantee massive flare potential. The cover is the Aggression Pearl CFI (Carbon Fiber Infused), finished with Crown Factory Compound. Unlike many newer Hammer balls that rely on HK22 technology, this ball trusts the proven CFI formula, known for its durability and strong response to friction. The combination of a polished pearl shell and a strong core promises plenty of length through the heads and an aggressive move at the end of the pattern.
Comparison
Compared directly to the **Hammer Black Widow Ghost Pearl** (white shell), the Dark Night shows very similar characteristics, but thanks to the carbon added to the cover it often comes across a tick more responsive in the backend, which can improve carry on slight off-hits. Bringing in a competitor like the **Storm Dark Code**, the Black Widow Dark Night usually generates an even steeper entry angle into the pocket; the Gas Mask core stands up very abruptly, while the Dark Code describes a somewhat more controlled curve. Against the **Hammer Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid**, the Dark Night offers more length. The Hybrid reads the midlane noticeably earlier, while the Dark Night stores its energy longer and only reacts once it hits dry boards in the backend.
On the Lanes
The Black Widow Dark Night is a weapon for the transition and for lanes that have already lost some oil up front. It is ideal when you are forced to stand deep and throw the ball well out to the outside ("opener"). Thanks to the polish, it glides cleanly over burned-up heads without burning energy early. As soon as it hits friction, it develops a strong hook that allows you to cross a lot of boards. For fresh, heavy oil it is often too slick, but as the second ball in the bag, when the strong solid ball starts up too early, it is excellent. It delivers the length and the angle needed to reliably kick out the corner pins even as the lanes develop later in the block.
