First Impressions
The 900 Global Black Ops draws plenty of attention with its all-black solid design. Inside works the asymmetric Break Asymmetric core, which carries a 2.480 RG, a strong 0.058 differential and a 0.021 intermediate differential. For the cover, 900 Global relies on the S70 solid coverstock, finished out of the box with a 1500-grit polish. This combination of an extremely strong asymmetric engine and a polished solid shell should make the ball clear the heads effortlessly and turn the corner hard and sharply in the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the 900 Global Dream Big, which uses a matte cover, the Black Ops shows drastically more length thanks to its polish and a far more angular backend reaction. Against the Storm Code Black, the asymmetric core of the Black Ops delivers a very similar weight distribution and a comparable heavy reaction at the breakpoint. When friction on the lane is high and transition dries up the front part of the lane, the Black Ops conserves its energy extremely effectively and reacts crisply.
On the Lanes
The 900 Global Black Ops is best suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume. If you're a stroker or throw at moderate ball speed, it gives you the option of playing deeper lines, since the cover stores energy while the strong core supplies the response off the end of the pattern. The asymmetric drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry. On fresh, extremely heavy oil, however, this ball can lack traction because of the polished finish. It's a weapon for open angles.
