First Impressions
The Storm Bite Frost is an exclusive overseas release from February 2023 that adds an exciting option to the legendary Bite series (known in the US as the "Virtual Gravity" line). At its heart sits the iconic G2 core, a strongly asymmetric design with a 2.47 RG and a high 0.058 differential (at 15 lbs), which stands for extreme flare potential. What makes this model special is the combination of this "monster core" with the Traction X7 Solid Reactive coverstock, which is polished out of the box with the Reacta Gloss finish. This "polished solid" configuration gives the ball a deceptively peaceful look in the hand, but hides an aggressive engine just waiting to bite into the oil.
Comparison
Compared directly to the **Storm Strong Bite** (matte solid surface), the Bite Frost pushes noticeably longer through the heads. Where the Strong Bite reads right off your feet and shows a very early, rounded motion, the Bite Frost uses the polish to conserve energy, but then reacts almost as violently in the backend thanks to the G2 core. Compared to the **Storm Proton Physix**, which uses the same Traction X7 Solid coverstock (but matte), the Bite Frost is the perfect complement for later games: it offers the same chemical traction, but the finish lets it slide across heads that have already dried up. Against a pure pearl ball like the **Storm AstroPhysiX**, the Bite Frost still reads the midlane noticeably earlier and feels more stable in oil.
On the Lanes
The Bite Frost is a problem solver for the heavy oil transition. It's ideal when the lane still has plenty of volume, but the really rough solid balls (like a Gem or Proton Physix) are already starting up too early and losing energy. Through the combination of a solid base and polish, it offers the best of both worlds: it doesn't "float" over oil lines as much as a pearl ball, but it gets through the heads cleaner than a typical solid. That makes it the first choice for playing deep angles on oily lanes without fear of the ball rolling out. It generates a lot of angle at the breakpoint (skid-snap characteristic), while retaining the safety of a solid cover.
