First Impressions
The 900 Global Badger Infused comes as a Red/Silver Pearl ball and represents an innovative evolution of the proven Badger series. The ball features an S28 Hybrid Urethane coverstock along with the Lacerate Symmetric core, with an RG of 2.570 and a differential of 0.041. It comes out of the box with a 1000 Abralon finish. The special feature of the Badger Infused lies in its revolutionary coverstock composition: 70% reactive resin and 30% traditional urethane. This blend was developed specifically to combine the control of urethane with the added performance of reactive material.
Comparison
Compared directly to conventional urethane balls, the Badger Infused offers more total hook and more backend recovery. While traditional urethane balls sometimes reach their limits on dry conditions, the Badger Infused should close that gap. The additional downlane recovery compared to traditional urethane lets players move further left and still hold the pattern. Compared with the 900 Global Shadow Ops, which also has a hybrid urethane cover, the Badger Infused shows different motion characteristics thanks to its particular 70/30 blend. The Lacerate core should generate enough flare to create a fresh surface downlane.
On the Lanes
The Badger Infused is designed primarily for dry lane conditions, where traditional urethane isn't getting the job done. It comes into play on shorter patterns when traditional urethane doesn't deliver the desired reaction. Higher rev players should be able to get good performance out of it on some medium patterns as well. This unique urethane blend should give bowlers a little extra help on dry conditions, when urethane isn't enough but reactive resin is impossible to control. The Lacerate Symmetric core offers 4-5 inches of flare potential, which means medium to higher flare characteristics. Use the Badger Infused on drier conditions where you want to control the pocket. The combination of controlled ball motion and increased backend reaction makes it an interesting option for players looking for a bridge between classic urethane and fully reactive material.
