BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Columbia 300 Authority Solid is a high-performance ball from 2020 with an eye-catching black/purple/green color scheme. Equipped with the ERT 2.0 Solid reactive coverstock and a factory surface of 500/1000 Siaair Micro Pad, the Authority Solid can handle high volumes of oil without giving up any hook. At its heart sits the all-new asymmetric Authority core, which allows the ball to change direction harder when it hits friction. The specs for 15-pound balls show a 2.503 RG, a 0.050 differential and a 0.020 intermediate differential. With DynamiCore outer core technology, the ball should be more durable and offer less compression at impact, which increases hitting power.
Comparison
The Authority Solid is earlier and stronger than the original Authority and gives the bowler what the original Authority could not, which makes these two a great one-two combination. Compared to other strong symmetric balls such as the Storm Phaze II, the Authority Solid shows clearly different characteristics. While the Storm Phaze II, with its low RG, high differential Velocity core, is known for its controlled move at the breakpoint and its strong but not laboring performance, the asymmetric Authority Solid provides a more aggressive direction change thanks to its core geometry. The Authority Solid's strength shows up especially on conditions where the heads and midlane are well oiled. It needs some head oil, but not as much as some oil monsters, and it gets through the heads and early midlane relatively easily in medium oil environments.
On the Lanes
The Authority Solid gives Columbia 300 fans the heavy oil ball they have wanted for a long time and is a great first ball out of the bag on fresh lanes. With the Authority asymmetric core, the ball will rev up earlier and deliver a stronger hook than the original Authority. The ball motion is particularly noteworthy: the ball reads the midlane without hesitation, continues through the backend and goes through the pin deck. Bowlers report exceptional carry, with the ball consistently splitting the 8-9 pins, which is a big advantage for tournament players in an era with more 9 pins standing than 10 pins. The Authority Solid also shows great success on flatter patterns, where the ball really opens up the lane for the bowler. The ball is recommended for heavy oil conditions, with high hook potential and medium length.
