First Impressions
The Motiv Arctic Sniper draws every eye with its extremely smooth, uninterrupted White and Silver Pearl design. At its center works the symmetrical Hollow Point core, which features an extremely high RG of 2.680 and a very low differential of 0.010. This core is wrapped in the special DMX Pearl Urethane coverstock, which has been given an extreme high-gloss finish. The very high RG keeps the core from rotating much, which in combination with the urethane-based cover should make the ball rev up extremely late and produce a very straight, almost reactionless motion.
Comparison
In direct comparison with strong pearl balls, the Arctic Sniper does not grab at all and offers an absolutely dead-straight reaction at the breakpoint. Compared to the classic Storm Ice Storm, the Arctic Sniper behaves extremely similarly on dry lanes thanks to its extremely mild urethane cover and offers no hook. As soon as the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, this ball is unfazed. It demands direct lines to carry its dynamics into the pins without hooking even an inch.
On the Lanes
The Motiv Arctic Sniper is most at home as a spare ball. It is an outstanding option if you need a ball on any pattern that slides easily through the heads and creates no hook toward the pocket. The flat reaction helps you hit the breakpoint precisely and directly. The ball should make carry on spares absolutely dependable. For the first ball at strikes, however, it is completely unusable unless the lanes are bone dry.
