BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Track Archetype Red/Blue, released in August 2023 (often classified as an international release), presents itself as a cosmetic reissue of the original high-performance ball. Technically it remains a heavyweight: at its center sits the distinctive I-Core 3.0 Slim, an asymmetric core with a 2.518 RG and a 0.053 differential (at 15 lbs), designed to rev up quickly. It is wrapped in the aggressive QR-11 Solid coverstock. The factory finish of 500/1500 Siaair gives the ball microscopic teeth that dig into the oil immediately. With an intermediate differential of 0.020, the core responds very definitely to friction, which allows the ball a notable change of direction on the back end despite its early traction.
Comparison
Technically the Archetype Red/Blue behaves identically to the original Archetype (Navy/Neon Green), since both use the same core and the same solid cover. Compared to the Storm DNA, however, the Archetype Red/Blue comes across as somewhat more aggressive at the breakpoint. Where the DNA tends to release its energy very evenly and roundly, the Archetype produces a more defined hook thanks to the slimmer I-Core 3.0 Slim and keeps more dynamics for the pins. Against the Roto Grip Gem, which reads extremely early and often throws a very smooth arc, the Track Archetype Red/Blue shows a bit more length through the heads and a sharper reaction as soon as it hits friction.
On the Lanes
This ball is an absolute monster on heavy oil. It's the first choice when you're standing on a freshly oiled lane and need traction to open up the pocket. If you throw the ball fast in particular, you'll appreciate the help of the rough surface, since the ball is in no danger of sliding past the breakpoint. It generates enough friction to punish heavy pins with massive carry. Once the lane goes through transition and the heads start to dry up, though, it's time to switch balls, otherwise it loses energy too early. It serves as a classic benchmark ball for wet conditions before you move to polished balls or hybrids.
