First Impressions
The Roto Grip All-Out Show Off, released in the fourth quarter of 2017, expands the HP2 line with a polished hybrid option. At the heart of the ball works the symmetrical Hotshot Core, which is designed for medium flare development with a 2.55 RG and a 0.045 differential (at 15 lbs). This core is paired with the Stoked Hybrid Reactive coverstock, a blend of two parts solid and one part pearl. The factory 1500-grit polished finish not only gives the ball an eye-catching shine in Purple, Neon Green and White, it also defines its character: it is programmed to travel cleanly through the heads and save energy for the backend. The specs signal a ball that offers length without becoming uncontrollable at the breakpoint.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Roto Grip Show Off (solid), the All-Out Show Off is noticeably longer and cleaner through the heads. Where the original Show Off reads early with its Micro DNA Solid surface and produces a round, smooth motion, the All-Out delays the reaction and delivers a sharper, more defined change of direction at the dry-lane boundary. Compared to a Roto Grip Dare Devil, the All-Out Show Off offers a similar shape of motion, but comes across as somewhat weaker and more controlled overall, which makes it an excellent step-down. Against a Storm Hy-Road it works a bit earlier and with slightly stronger core dynamics, but retains the typical hybrid versatility that balls from the Utah plant are known for.
On the Lanes
This ball is an ideal weapon for medium oil conditions and typical house shots that have already seen some play. When stronger balls with rougher surfaces start hooking too early or burning up energy in the heads, the All-Out Show Off is the perfect ball change. It ignores the spots in the front part of the lane that have already dried up and uses the available friction in the backend for a strong drive into the pocket. If you like to keep your ball a little further right (for righties) or want to fight lane transition with a ball change, you'll find a reliable option here. It offers enough length to play deeper angles, but also enough traction from the solid portion of the hybrid cover not to slide through the oil.
