First Impressions
The Track Alias was introduced in January 2018 as the brand's technological flagship and comes in a deep color blend of smoke, purple and orange. What sets this ball apart is the Alias core, a highly dynamic asymmetric design developed specifically for maximum versatility. With an RG of 2.49, a differential of 0.054 and an intermediate differential of 0.013 at 15 pounds, it offers strong core characteristics that can be influenced dramatically by the choice of drilling layout. This core is wrapped in the Prime Hybrid coverstock, which should create a perfect balance between the traction of a solid and the skid of a pearl. Out of the box the ball comes with a 500/2000 Abralon finish, giving it a matte but still reaction-friendly surface.
Comparison Compared to the Track Paradox Black, the Track Alias offers a slightly longer skid phase through the heads, but shows a similarly powerful move in the midlane. While the Paradox series is known for its extremely early reaction, the Alias should store more energy for the backend thanks to its hybrid cover. Placed next to the Storm Phaze II, the Track Alias feels noticeably more directionally stable in the midlane due to its asymmetric core and shows a more aggressive entry angle into the pocket. Compared to the Track Mako, the Alias offers more versatility, since it is less one-dimensionally fixated on heavy oil alone and also performs excellently on medium patterns. Compared to the Columbia 300 Lit, the Alias provides a rounder overall motion, which makes it easier to control on difficult sport patterns.
On the Lanes The Track Alias is designed as a high-performance all-rounder for medium to heavy oil conditions. The goal of this design is to offer a ball that, through different drillings, can function both as an early, arcing ball and as a long, angular backend ball. It's the ideal choice if you want only one high-end ball in your bag that covers a broad range of conditions. On typical house shots it allows you to play across various boards, with the Prime Hybrid coverstock providing a very predictable reaction to friction. If you throw the ball fast, you'll benefit from the traction in the midlane, while if you have a high rev rate you'll appreciate the stability of the Alias core, which minimizes an uncontrolled break at the breakpoint. Thanks to the matte 2000 surface, it also offers enough traction not to lose hitting power in the pins once transition and carrydown set in.
