First Impressions
The Motiv Jackal Carnage draws plenty of attention with its aggressive red and black solid design. At its center works the enormous asymmetric Predator V2 core, featuring a 2.470 RG, a massive 0.054 differential and a 0.015 intermediate differential. This core is wrapped in the extremely tacky Coercion XFS Solid Reactive coverstock, finished with a dull 3000 grit LSS surface. The very low RG makes the core rev up brutally fast, which in combination with the rough shell should have the ball grabbing immediately and producing a huge, heavily rolling motion.
Comparison
In a direct comparison with the original Motiv Jackal, the Carnage shows a drastically earlier and even rounder, more dominant reaction. Compared to the Storm Alpha Crux, the Carnage behaves very similarly, but generates incredible midlane control through the Coercion cover. Once the transition sets in during the block and friction on the outside boards increases, the Carnage's extremely strong solid surface immediately loses usable energy for the backend. It absolutely requires a massive oil base in the heads.
On the Lanes
The Motiv Jackal Carnage was developed exclusively for use on heavily oiled lane conditions. It lets you generate the hook needed to cross boards effectively even on the deepest fresh oil. The heavily rolling asymmetric core should optimize carry through a steady, heavy and consistent entry angle into the pocket. On dry or dried-up conditions this ball is completely unplayable; it burns up its energy immediately and misses the pins.
