BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Hammer 3-D Offset Purple/Silver, released in August 2022 as an exclusive international (Overseas) release, expands the iconic 3-D series with a shiny pearl option. Visually, the ball stands out with a classy combination of purple and silver that looks very high-end on the lane. Inside works the High Rev Offset core, an asymmetric design with a distinctive shape that in 15 lbs shows a 2.489 RG, a 0.053 differential and a comparatively low intermediate differential of 0.008. These numbers produce an early revving core (low RG) while keeping the asymmetry controllable. The cover is the Neoflex 25 Pearl Reactive coverstock, finished out of the box with a 500/1000/1500 Siaair sanding followed by Crown Factory Compound. This combination of polished surface and strong core promises a ball reaction that glides cleanly through the heads yet still retains the heavy roll phase typical of the Offset series as soon as it hits friction.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Hammer 3-D Offset (Blazing Violet), which used a rougher surface, the Purple/Silver goes noticeably longer. Where the original reads the lane early and creates a very round, smooth motion, the pearl version stores its energy longer and responds to friction more defined and more angular at the breakpoint. Set against the Hammer Black Widow Ghost Pearl, the 3-D Offset Purple/Silver shows a somewhat more stable and less abrupt reaction. The Widow's Gas Mask core tends toward a more aggressive snap at the end of the pattern, while the High Rev Offset core of the Purple/Silver works more continuously and "meatier" through the pin deck. Against a symmetric pearl like the Hammer Scorpion Sting, however, the 3-D Offset Purple/Silver offers considerably more total hook and more safety in oil thanks to its asymmetry, which makes it a step stronger.
On the Lanes
The Hammer 3-D Offset Purple/Silver is ideal for medium oil conditions and especially valuable during the transition phase. It works as a perfect complement to the original 3-D Offset or other strong solids: once those balls start hooking too early or losing energy in burned-up heads, the Purple/Silver provides the length needed to get through the heads. It lets you open up the angles and move left without the ball becoming oversensitive at the breakpoint ("jump"). Thanks to the moderate intermediate differential, it is more forgiving than extremely aggressive asymmetrics and offers a predictable move to the pocket. It is excellent for keeping carry up when the lane opens up but a core with strong drive is still needed to mix the pins.
