First Impressions
The Roto Grip Rockstar comes in a striking Crimson/Jet/Maroon color combination and is the newest member of Roto Grip's HP3 line. With its dark matte finish, it already looks like strength and precision. Technically, the Rockstar is built on the brand-new ROCKER Core technology with A.I. Core support. This innovative core shape was developed to create a centralized plane of rotation that provides better continuation through the pin deck. The technical specs speak for themselves: with a 2.48 RG and a differential of 0.054 (16 lbs) or 0.050 (15 lbs), the Rockstar positions itself as a strong symmetrical ball with outstanding control. The heart of the ball is the innovative NanoStar™ coverstock, a further development of the proven nanotechnology. This material offers midlane traction similar to the legendary MicroTrax™, but it doesn't grab the lane quite as early and generates more responsiveness to friction down the lane.

Comparison
Within the Roto Grip arsenal, the Rockstar sits between the Optimum Idle and the Phase Two. It goes a bit longer than the Idle series and offers more pop on the backend. Compared to the Phase Two in particular, the ball shows slower transitional behavior — it doesn't make its breakpoint as quickly, instead carrying out a smoother, more controlled transition. Where the Phase Two shows a somewhat quicker transition, the Rockstar offers similar length with a smoother, more even arc. Compared to the Iron Pro, an asymmetrical hybrid, the Rockstar creates a slightly earlier reaction while still keeping a clean motion through the heads. Testers describe the Rockstar as combining the strengths of the Optimum Idle with more versatility — it is "not as early and not as smooth" as the previous models in the series. What sets the Rockstar apart: it offers more downlane motion than the Optimum Idle while being more controllable than the Phase Two. The NanoStar™ material forms the perfect bridge between the MicroTrax™ and the eTrax™ material — not as early as the one, but also not as clean and reactive as the other.

On the Lanes
