BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Radical Intel Recon comes in a striking color scheme of purple and carbon tones, which gains a distinctive translucency and color depth from the modern HK22 Pearl coverstock technology. As a reissue of one of Radical's best-selling balls, the Intel Recon is meant to reproduce the motion characteristics of its legendary predecessor while being equipped with updated coverstock chemistry. The goal was to retain the proven ball reaction and at the same time benefit from current technological advances. The ball features a Modified Intel Symmetric core with an RG of 2.495 in the 16-pound ball and a differential of 0.028. These numbers place it in the "Reliable" category and point to a controllable, medium ball reaction. The HK22 Pearl coverstock is prepared with a 500, 1000, 1500 Siaair and Factory Compound surface, which could allow for versatile use across various lane conditions. Brunswick's DynamiCore technology is also part of the package, using a more robust outer core material to reduce compression at impact and thereby improve durability as well as carry.

Comparison
The Intel Recon slots into the medium to medium-heavy segment and should separate itself from more aggressive solid coverstocks through its pearl coverstock characteristics. Compared to the Storm Phaze II, which shows an earlier and stronger response to friction with its solid coverstock, the Intel Recon should skid longer through the front part of the lane and offer a later but still powerful backend reaction. Similar characteristics could be expected from the Roto Grip Gem, though the Gem with its solid coverstock may grab earlier than the Intel Recon with its pearl surface. Compared to the Brunswick Quantum Bias, which also features DynamiCore technology, the Intel Recon should show more length thanks to the pearl coverstock and display a sharper backend motion. The Storm IQ Tour, known for its controllable and predictable motion, could resemble the Intel Recon in basic character, though the Intel Recon may offer somewhat more backend potential due to the modern HK22 formulation. This positioning makes the ball interesting if you're looking for a reliable pearl ball that sits between aggressive solid options and weaker entry-level balls.

On the Lanes
The Intel Recon is particularly suited to medium oil volumes and could play to its strengths once the lane has gone through some transition. The pearl surface should give it enough length to keep it from reacting too early, while the combination of symmetric core and modern coverstock should still have enough energy left in the backend for a powerful move to the pocket. If you have a medium rev rate and medium ball speed, you could find a versatile companion here, one that should be usable on fresher lanes as well as on lanes that have already been played in. If you have a higher rev rate, the ball could become interesting once the lane starts to dry up or when you want a more controllable reaction. The factory surface of 500, 1000, 1500 Siaair leaves room for adjustments: polishing would increase length further and sharpen the backend reaction, while a duller surface would create more friction in the midlane. In your arsenal, the Intel Recon could serve as a second or third ball when more aggressive options react too early or the lane has already seen too much transition. Its reliable character makes it a potentially predictable partner for a variety of situations, with the DynamiCore technology additionally intended to provide improved carry.
