First Impressions
The Track Criterion Hybrid comes in an eye-catching design with black, aquamarine and gold coloring. As the successor to the successful Criterion, this bowling ball continues Track's tradition of high-performance balls that also includes Paradox, Paragon and Archetype. At its heart sits the innovative Criterion M.D. core with a 2.50 RG, a 0.052 differential and an asymmetry value of 0.018 (at 15 pounds). The real highlight, however, is the brand-new Super Response Hybrid coverstock with HK22C technology, which delivers unique playing characteristics. The surface arrives in a factory finish combination of 500, 1000, 1500 Siaair followed by Factory Compound, which gives it excellent skid. The Criterion Hybrid uses several advanced technologies: HK22 technology improves the transparency and color brilliance of the coverstock through nano-micellar phase separation. The patented Durability Optimization Technology (DOT) significantly reduces the risk of cracking, while DynamiCore provides increased durability of the outer core and boosts hitting power through less compression at impact.

Comparison
Compared directly to the original Criterion, the hybrid successor shows a clearly different motion pattern. Where the original Criterion grabs earlier with its solid surface and is designed for heavier oil conditions, the Criterion Hybrid offers more length and a more explosive backend reaction. By comparison, it stores more energy and releases it powerfully at the end of the lane. Against other hybrid models such as the Stealth Hybrid or Crusher Hybrid, the Criterion Hybrid positions itself as the stronger ball with more overall hook. It does, however, offer a more predictable and controlled reaction than the Crusher, which tends to be more explosive but less even. The Criterion Hybrid thus combines the strength of a premium ball for medium-heavy to heavy oil conditions with the responsiveness of a hybrid coverstock. Unlike earlier hybrid models, which were often used as transition balls for the second or third phase of a block, the Criterion Hybrid works excellently as a first ball for the early phases thanks to its strength and versatility.

On the Lanes
The Criterion Hybrid reaches its full potential on medium to heavily oiled lanes. Its standout quality is the combination of controlled midlane behavior and a powerful backend reaction. As soon as it meets friction it changes direction noticeably, yet retains enough energy to ensure strong continuation and excellent carry through the pins. Particularly impressive is its versatility in terms of playing angles. It can be played on straighter lines, where it glides through the oil under control, as well as at more open angles, where it can show off its strong response on the drier parts of the lane. That flexibility makes it an excellent choice for a variety of styles and lane topographies. If you throw the ball fast, the Criterion Hybrid offers the reactivity needed to generate enough hook without slowing the ball down too early. Speed-dominant players will appreciate its even deceleration and predictable motion. The surface can be adjusted as needed — sanding makes it grab earlier, while polishing increases its length further.
