BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm Identity, a limited signature ball created in collaboration with bowling star Jason Belmonte, comes in a striking color combination of cherry red, turquoise and black with a bold yellow "Identity" logo. Some bowlers are reminded of a Christmas color scheme, but the combination gives the ball an unmistakable look on the lane. Technically, the Identity is built around the newly developed ID A.I. Core, an asymmetric weight block with impressive numbers: in the 15-pound model the RG is 2.51, the differential 0.055 and the PSA 0.011. At 16 pounds the numbers are 2.50 (RG), 0.055 (differential) and 0.009 (PSA). The medium-high RG and the comparatively low asymmetry make it a "mild asymmetric ball" – strong enough for impressive performance, but controllable enough for precise lines. This core is wrapped in the proven REX™ Pearl coverstock with a Power Edge Polish surface. That combination provides clean skid through the front part of the lane and a pronounced backend reaction. The ball gives off an intense cherry scent, which makes it unmistakable in olfactory terms as well.

Comparison
Compared directly with other Storm balls, the Identity slots in as a gap-filler between stronger asymmetric models and less aggressive symmetric options. In some ways it resembles the Virtual Energy Blackout, but offers a different balance between predictability and backend reaction. Compared with the Equinox, the Identity shows a slightly earlier hook point and a more pronounced move in the backend. While the Equinox is known for its controlled, even motion, the Identity offers more "pop" at the end of the lane without reaching the extreme sharpness of some other models. Conceptually, the Identity is similar to other Belmonte signature balls such as the Timeless and the Drive, which also feature higher RG values (above 2.5). This characteristic produces an even, arcing hook motion rather than an abrupt change of direction. That matches the "Storm shape" Belmonte prefers – long and defined with a pronounced backend move that is more sweeping than sharp.

On the Lanes
The Identity is especially well suited to the middle and later stages of a block, once the lane starts to develop friction. Its true strength comes out in the transition phase, when stronger balls grab too early and weaker ones don't provide enough punch. Thanks to its versatility, the ball works for a variety of player types. If you're speed-dominant, you can take the surface down and use it straight away on fresh lanes. Bowlers with a balanced game will get good results with the factory Power Edge polish. If you're rev-dominant, a longer pin distance or a duller surface may help you control the quick backend reaction. The ball proves remarkably versatile in terms of line play: it works both on straighter lines with higher speed and on wider angles with more moderate pace. This adaptability makes it an ideal transition tool between different lane conditions. Worth highlighting is the combination of length and strength: the Identity stays clean through the front and midlane, but stores enough energy for impressive carry and reliable pin action. Its reaction can be described as a "swooping hook" – an even, powerful curving motion rather than an abrupt corner. As a limited edition, the Identity is an exclusive addition to any arsenal, filling the gap between strongly asymmetric balls like the ZEN 25 and Phase AI and versatile options like the Road Warrior, while at the same time embodying Belmonte's signature motion profile.
