First Impressions
The 900 Global Ember comes in a striking color combination of red, orange and anthracite that recalls glowing lava and is visually quite appealing. The ball belongs to 900 Global's 800 series and was developed as a companion to the Cove in order to handle medium lane conditions optimally. Technically, the Ember is built around the brand-new symmetrical Magna A.I. Core with an RG of 2.49 (15 lbs) and a differential of 0.044. This core features an innovative dual-hemisphere design that should provide exceptional consistency over the entire length of the lane. The coverstock is RB 82 Pearl Reactive, an aggressive pearl coverstock polished with Power Edge at 5500 grit. Hardness is 73 durometer with medium absorption. Flare potential is rated as medium, while the ball shape is laid out on the angular side. Hook length falls in the medium to late range, which is typical for a pearl ball in this category. The ball is suited to light to medium oil volumes, medium to longer patterns and both fresh and slightly transitioned lane conditions.

Comparison
Compared directly to its counterpart, the 900 Global Cove, the Ember shows clear differences despite the identical core. Where the Cove, as a hybrid ball, grabs earlier and reacts more continuously, the Ember offers more length and a stronger backend reaction thanks to its pearl coverstock. The Cove should develop roughly one to two boards more hook and prove to be the more stable option on burning lane conditions. The comparison to the Storm IQ A.I. is interesting, as it positions itself between the two 900 Global balls. The IQ A.I., with its familiar IQ Core and lower RG, gets into a roll earlier than the Ember but offers more continuation. The Ember, on the other hand, develops a more pronounced hockey-stick shape with a distinct change of direction in the backend. Against the Roto Grip Ultimate Wrecker the Ember shows definite similarities, though with a somewhat rounder reaction. Where the Ultimate Wrecker can at times react too quickly and too forward, the Ember offers a more even balance between reaction time and control. That balance possibly makes it more versatile than its more aggressive relative.

On the Lanes
The Ember positions itself as a versatile ball for the middle phase of a block. Its strengths lie particularly on medium lane conditions, where it should work on both fresh and slightly transitioned surfaces. The ball shows remarkable adaptability to different release styles — the more aggressive the delivery, the stronger its reaction develops. If you have a higher rev rate, the Ember could be especially interesting, since it stays controllable despite its pearl characteristics and doesn't tend toward excessive sideways hook. The option of influencing the reaction by adjusting the surface prep broadens its range of uses further. Without the Power Edge polish the ball reacts less angular and develops more midlane traction. The ball is particularly suited to bowlers looking for a reliable pearl ball for their base arsenal, one that reacts neither too early nor too late. Its place in the 800 series makes it a more affordable alternative to high-end asymmetricals without having to accept any significant loss in performance. For league bowling on synthetic lanes with medium to higher friction, the Ember could be an excellent choice, especially paired with the Cove as a one-two-punch system. That combination should make it possible to handle different lane phases and transition situations effectively without having to reach for completely different ball categories. The Ember's versatility also shows in its ability to be played both straighter and with more angle, depending on your release style and the reaction you want. This adaptability makes it a valuable tool for bowlers of varying skill levels and preferences.
