First Impressions
The Storm Equinox shows up in an eye-catching color combination of Goldenrod, Deep Violet and Chromium with the classic Flying-S logo, which will immediately remind veterans of the legendary X-Factor balls. The look is rounded out by the pleasant Blueberry Crumble scent, clearly noticeable when the ball is in play. At the heart of the Equinox works the innovative Solarion Core, an asymmetric three-cylinder design with a dominant cylinder at the equator that produces a low RG value of 2.47 (16 lbs). The core delivers a differential of 0.054 and a PSA value of 0.016-0.018, giving the ball a precise roll with controlled flare potential. The real innovation, however, sits in the A1S Pearl Reactive coverstock, developed with Storm's new Adhesion System Technology. Comparison
Compared to other Storm balls such as the Physics Blackout and Origin, the Equinox positions itself strategically in the middle. The Origin shows a somewhat earlier hook and reads the lane earlier overall, while the Equinox goes longer and offers a stronger backend motion. The ball motion resembles the popular Attention Star in places, although it reacts a bit earlier and shows a more continuous move off the backend. Compared to the Zen 25 and VRBO, the Equinox appears somewhat more aggressive in the midlane, but still holds enough energy in reserve for a strong backend. Against the Absolute, the Equinox offers better performance on oilier lanes, while the Absolute plays to its strengths on drier lanes. The Equinox shows a remarkable similarity to the Virtus Energy Blackout series, but is less abrupt in its reaction and offers more continuation through the pins.

On the Lanes
The Equinox was developed specifically for league bowlers, based on the finding that 80% of all league and weekend tournament play happens on oil patterns between 39 and 44 feet. That specialization makes it an ideal choice for house lanes with typical league conditions. The ball is characterized by a balanced relationship between length and backend, gliding easily through the front part of the lane and then driving through the pins with sufficient energy and continuation. The strength of the Equinox lies in its versatility and predictability - it offers a smooth, controlled hook with enough strength to drive through the pocket without being overly aggressive. Especially impressive is its ability to smooth out wet-dry conditions, which makes it ideal for the second or third game of a league session when the lanes go into transition. The reactive pearl coverstock with the new A1S technology provides increased oil absorption, which noticeably improves shot-to-shot repeatability. If you switch between different release styles - from the classic straight player to the two-handed style - the Equinox offers remarkable adaptability.
