First Impressions
The AMF Encore shows up in a bold color combination of Black, Red and Gold Solid. The heart of this model is the asymmetric CFT Core, which stands out with a low RG of 2.480 and a strong differential of 0.051. The cover is the grabby F74 Solid Reactive coverstock, finished out of the box with a special nEat Finish (4000 grit). The low RG gets the core revving up very quickly, while the roughed-up shell should let the ball glide very securely through the heads and build massive traction. The design aims at a strong, asymmetric midlane reaction.
Comparison
Compared to the AMF Escape with its pearl cover, the Encore grabs noticeably earlier and offers a much more stable, steadier reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, the Encore generates a very similar, hard-hitting asymmetric motion in heavy oil. Once the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, the Encore burns up energy relatively quickly because of its rough surface. It demands enough oil to carry its enormous dynamics all the way into the backend.
On the Lanes
The AMF Encore's preferred territory is heavily oiled lane conditions. It is the perfect choice if you need a ball on fresh patterns that grabs hard in the midlane and produces a steady hook toward the pocket. The secure reaction helps you avoid missing the breakpoint even with massive volume. The ball should maximize carry through its brutal drive. On dried-up lanes, however, this ball is far too aggressive and extremely hard to keep on the ideal line.
