First Impressions
The 900Global Dirty Look, released in November 2012, brings an aggressive look and an aggressive package to the lane, and it turns heads. Visually, the ball stands out with its striking Blue/Emerald Green Pearl color combination. Technically, it marks an interesting step forward within the 900Global line: it uses the S73 Pearl Reactive coverstock, polished to a high gloss out of the box in order to glide extremely cleanly through the heads. Inside works a newly developed asymmetric core with a medium to high RG of 2.53 and a strong differential of 0.054 (at 15 lbs). This combination of a "slick" shell and a high-motor core with a medium mass bias (0.019) is designed to store energy as long as possible and then release it explosively at the breakpoint. This is not a ball for subtle moves, but for drastic angles.
Comparison
Compared directly with its predecessor, the 900Global The Look, the Dirty Look is noticeably longer and sharper. Where "The Look" read earlier and moved more roundly thanks to its hybrid cover and duller finish, the Dirty Look ignores the heads almost completely. Set against a popular contemporary like the Storm Frantic, the Dirty Look offers a more defined and stronger change of direction in the backend due to its asymmetric core (as opposed to the Frantic's symmetric N.O.S. core). It feels "heavier" at the pin deck than the Frantic, but it also demands a bit more precision at the breakpoint. Next to a Roto Grip Wrecker, the Dirty Look is overall more aggressive and covers more boards as soon as it hits dry boards (friction).
On the Lanes
The 900Global Dirty Look is an absolute weapon on medium oil conditions, and especially for the point at which the lane "breaks down" (transition). When stronger solids start to hook too early or lose energy, the Dirty Look lets you move further inside and open up the angle. Thanks to the high differential, it generates enough flare even from deep angles to take out the corner pins (carry). It is less suited to fresh, longer oil, since there it risks sliding past the breakpoint. Its specialty is the "skid-flip" game: generate length and turn hard at the end.
