BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Track Strata comes on the scene as the first high-performance ball since Brunswick's acquisition of Track, and it aims to impress with its new Strata core technology. The Strata is Track's first high-performance release as part of the Brunswick family of brands. Technically it carries a 2.475 RG, a .050 differential and a .017 mass bias differential, which places it in the category of asymmetric cores with high flare potential. The QR-11 Solid coverstock arrives from the factory in a very coarse 500/1000 SiaAir surface, designed for heavy oil conditions. The Strata uses DynamiCore – the industry-leading innovation in outer core technology from Brunswick Bowling Products. This technological leap is a more durable outer material that offers less compression at impact, increases hitting power and creates an unmistakable difference in sound and pin carry.
Comparison
The Track Strata positions itself as the direct successor to the successful Track Proof and is meant to outperform it. The Proof performed like the most expensive balls but sold at a great price. The designers had the challenging task of exceeding the Proof's performance with this release. One user describes the head-to-head: it is a bit less aggressive with the feet and a touch smoother than the Hammer Redemption Solid, but about 3-4 boards stronger than the Track Proof. Compared to the hybrid version, the solid variant offers more early reaction and continuous backend motion, while the higher intermediate numbers and the polished hybrid shell create a big change of direction coming off the pattern – this refers to the Strata Hybrid version.
On the Lanes
All three testers found that the Strata works best on the heaviest and longest oil pattern. Tweener players in particular benefit from its characteristics: the Strata let him play in his comfort zone, and he still saw his ball pick up even when he got fast with his speed. The matte surface provided plenty of traction and enough continuation on the backend that he had no trouble moving his feet left to stay ahead of the transition. Throughout testing, the Strata held its coarse surface well without glazing over as quickly as many other sanded balls. The ball is ideal if you need a piece for heavy oil conditions and value continuous backend reaction. With surface adjustments this ball can become very versatile and fit bowlers of all styles.
