First Impressions
The Track Paradox Red is the first solid version in the Paradox line and makes an unmistakable statement with its bright red look. At its heart sits the proven I-Core 2.0 Dual Density core with an RG of 2.48 and a differential of 0.057 in 15-pound balls. The intermediate differential is 0.015, which produces high flare potential. The Prime ET (Extra Traction) solid coverstock ships with a 500/2000 Abralon surface. The ball was released on September 10, 2019, and is meant to extend the successful Paradox series with an aggressive solid option.
Comparison
The Paradox Red behaves noticeably smoother than other strong asymmetric balls and surprises with a supple reaction, even though it uses the same core as its predecessors. Compared to the Track Paradox Black, the Red offers more length with a stronger backend move than any previous Paradox ball. Head to head with the Ebonite Choice, the Track is clearly less abrupt in its direction change, while against the Track Triton Elite it brings more backend potential thanks to its asymmetric properties. The ball motion is reminiscent of an asymmetric Roto Grip Idol, though the Track shows a more continuous arc without the sharp stand-up reaction typical of strong asyms.
On the Lanes
The 500/2000 Abralon surface should let the ball dig through the heaviest oil volumes effortlessly and develop the necessary traction. The Paradox Red clearly needs oil to perform at its best and works as a medium to strong alternative if you want to step down from your strongest balls but still want asymmetric characteristics. On heavy oil patterns, different player types can successfully use the eighth board as a common breakpoint, and the aggressive cover still offers recovery on shots missed slightly right of target. Strokers in particular benefit from the smooth arc with enough backend punch for good carry, and the ball holds onto its carry characteristics when you move deeper inside. It is generally suitable for sport patterns, though it may not quite hit the optimum on longer patterns.
