First Impressions
The Track Logix, released in September 2017, presents itself as a technologically advanced symmetrical ball meant to close the gap between benchmark performance and high performance. Visually, the ball stands out with its gold, black and white pearl design. Inside works the newly developed DNA Core. This symmetrical core has a 2.53 RG and an exceptionally high differential of 0.057 (at 15 lbs). A differential value that high is rare on symmetrical balls and produces a massive flare potential of nearly 6 inches. Wrapped around this powerful core is the LT-2 Hybrid coverstock, a blend of solid and pearl components. The factory finish of 500/1000/2000 Abralon with Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish gives the ball a shiny surface designed to get through the heads cleanly, while the strong core does the necessary work in the oil.
Comparison
In a direct comparison with the Track Legion Solid, the Logix shows noticeably more length through the heads. While the Legion reads early and offers a very smooth, controlled shape, the Logix delays the reaction and delivers a sharper entry angle into the pocket. Compared with the Track Alias, an asymmetrical heavyweight, the Logix offers a similar amount of total hook, but looks rounder and more continuous at the breakpoint. The Logix's high differential lets it cover almost as many boards as the Alias, yet with the predictability of a symmetrical core. Against a Storm Hy-Road, the Logix offers considerably more core dynamics and flare, which makes it more stable when it runs into unexpected oil in the midlane, where the Hy-Road might tend to slide.
On the Lanes
The Track Logix is an excellent choice for medium oil conditions and typical house shots. It shines especially during the transition phase: when dull balls start losing energy too early, the Logix's polished hybrid surface provides the length needed to store energy for the backend. Thanks to the extremely high differential, however, it generates enough flare not to lose its bearings in the oil of the midlane. It is ideal if you like to swing the ball a bit farther outside, since the strong core makes sure the ball comes back reliably. Even with carrydown (oil pushed into the back part of the lane), the Logix offers enough traction to secure the carry where weaker pearl balls would often hit flat.
