First Impressions
The Storm Domination 2020 relies on the proven RAD+ core with an extremely high PSA differential, designed to create an explosive turn on the back end of the lane. The ERG Hybrid coverstock combines the properties of a solid and a pearl formulation, offering versatile adjustment options. ERG technology, used exclusively in Premier balls, should be able to cut through heavy oil and features higher oil absorption than most other coverstock materials. The ball's design follows the classic Domination philosophy with its characteristic asymmetric weight distribution, which should provide maximum flare potential and late hook.
Comparison
Compared to modern asymmetric balls like the Storm Next Factor, the Domination 2020 shows a similar backend intensity, but with a somewhat earlier reaction due to the hybrid cover. The RAD+ technology with its high PSA differential reinforces the intended effect of the weight block — an extremely hard turn on the back end of the lane. While balls like the Storm Phaze II offer a more controlled arc, the Domination 2020 should create noticeably more aggressive angles. The hybrid cover positions it between the classic solid versions of the Domination series and modern pearl reactions, which in theory could let it work on both fresh and broken-down lanes.
On the Lanes
The ERG Hybrid cover proves versatile in use — whether polished or dull, smooth or scuffed up — and its high oil absorption should let it work on nearly all lane conditions. The ball is aimed primarily at players with medium to high rev rates who are looking for maximum backend performance on medium to oily lane conditions. Storm recommends drilling the PSA in a strong position — 2 to 4 inches away from the positive axis point. If you like to play steep entry angles and need big angles into the pocket, the Domination 2020 should provide the necessary power and continuation. Its strength lies especially on sport and tournament conditions, where controlled aggression and a late reaction are called for.
