BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Storm Rocket Booster, released in November 2016 as an international edition (overseas release), brings the successful technology of the Thunder line back in new clothing. Visually, the ball comes in a hybrid mix (often listed as Black Pearl and Purple Solid) that gives it a dynamic look. Inside works the proven symmetrical Booster Core, specified with a 2.54 RG and a 0.046 differential (at 15 lbs). These numbers produce earlier rotation than classic flip cores, yet still provide enough length. This core is wrapped in the legendary R2S Hybrid Reactive coverstock, finished at the factory with a 1500-grit polish. This combination of a polished hybrid shell and a medium-strength core promises a versatile reaction that neither grabs too early nor slides through the breakpoint window.
Comparison
Technically, the Rocket Booster is nearly identical to the original Storm Rocket (Orange/Black), though the new color scheme gives a visually different perception of the ball motion. Compared to the immortal Storm Hy-Road, which also uses the R2S Hybrid shell, the Rocket Booster reads the lane considerably earlier than the Hy-Road (Inverted Fe2 Core, RG 2.57) because of the Booster Core (RG 2.54). That means the Rocket Booster feels more stable in the midlane and less prone to "wiggle," but offers a slightly rounder, more continuous move off the backend than the extremely late snap of the Hy-Road. Against the Storm Rocket Ship (solid cover, 3000 sheen), the Rocket Booster provides substantially more length through the heads and a more defined reaction to friction at the end of the pattern.
On the Lanes
The Rocket Booster is a classic benchmark ball for medium oil and house patterns. It shines especially during the transition phase, when pure solids lose energy too early but pearl balls still react too sensitively to the remaining oil. Thanks to the R2S Hybrid cover, it glides cleanly through the heads, while the Booster Core makes sure the ball "starts up" in the midlane and moves to the pocket under control. It's ideal if you like the "Hy-Road look" but need a slightly earlier and smoother reaction to keep control on fresh or lightly played lanes. Its strength lies in predictability: it doesn't punish small speed errors as harshly as balls with a higher differential.
