First Impressions
The Storm Locked In comes in a powerful black, red and white hybrid color scheme. The heart of this model is the asymmetric RAD-X core, which features a 2.480 RG, a high 0.054 differential and a 0.018 intermediate differential. The cover is the GI-15 hybrid reactive coverstock, sanded to a 3000 grit Abralon finish out of the box. The low RG combined with the traction-heavy cover should make the ball push powerfully through the heads and pair strong midlane traction with a steady, heavy roll phase.
Comparison
Compared to the Storm Lock, which uses a pure solid cover, the Locked In delivers noticeably more length down the boards thanks to its hybrid cover and reacts a bit more nimbly at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, the Locked In produces a very similar, hard-hitting motion. Once the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, the Locked In benefits slightly from its hybrid makeup, but it still tends to burn up energy early when there is too much friction. It wants enough oil.
On the Lanes
The Storm Locked In finds its preferred home on heavily oiled lane conditions. It is the logical choice if you need a ball on fresh patterns that reads the midlane without trouble and turns into the pocket with full force. The strong reaction helps keep control even at high volume and generates enough power for solid carry. On dry lanes, however, this ball is far too strong and will hit the pins flat, since it spends itself too early.
