First Impressions
The Storm Zero Gravity Grip shows up in an extremely menacing Black, Blue and Silver solid color blend as an international premium release. At the heart of this model beats the asymmetric Shape-Lock HD engine, which carries a 2.480 RG, a strong 0.052 differential and a 0.020 intermediate differential. The outer layer consists of the extremely tacky ERG Solid Reactive coverstock, which comes matte out of the box. This combination of an early-revving engine and the heavy surface should make the ball grab extremely early and deliver a huge, heavy roll phase.
Comparison
Compared to the original Storm Zero Gravity, the Zero Gravity Grip offers noticeably more traction and a far more arcing reaction in heavy oil. Next to the Storm Alpha Crux, the Zero Gravity Grip delivers similarly massive midlane control, though with marginally less asymmetric snap at the breakpoint. When friction on the lane increases and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, this ball reacts extremely sensitively and burns up all of its energy immediately. It is a pure specialist for enormous volumes of oil.
On the Lanes
The Storm Zero Gravity Grip is best suited to lane conditions with extreme oil volume. For strokers and tweeners it offers the option of playing direct lines on freshly oiled patterns, since the surface finds immense hold in the heads. The steady drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry, as the ball rolls heavily through the pin deck. Once the lane dries up, however, the ball can hit flat. In those moments a ball change is advisable.
