First Impressions
The Storm Gravity Flow turns every head as an Asia-exclusive release with its blue and yellow pearl design. Inside works the legendary asymmetric Shape-Lock HD core, which comes with a 2.480 RG, a strong 0.052 differential and an intermediate differential of 0.020. For the cover, Storm relies on the highly polished R2S Pearl Reactive coverstock, finished out of the box at 1500 grit polished. This combination of an extremely strong asymmetric engine and a smooth pearl shell should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly and turn the corner hard and sharp in the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Storm Zero Gravity Grip, which uses a matte solid cover, the Gravity Flow shows an almost drastically longer skid phase and a far more angular backend reaction. Against the Storm Code Gold, the asymmetric core of the Gravity Flow delivers a very similar weight distribution and a comparably heavy reaction at the breakpoint. When friction on the lane is high and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, it holds its energy extremely effectively and reacts snappily.
On the Lanes
The Storm Gravity Flow is best suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume. If you're a stroker or throw at moderate ball speed, it gives you the chance to play deeper lines, since the cover saves energy while the strong core provides the extreme backend response. The asymmetric drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry. On fresh, extremely heavy oil, however, this ball may lack traction because of the polished finish. It's a weapon for late hook.
