Inside works the extremely strong asymmetric Shape-Lock HD Core with a 2.480 RG, a massive 0.052 differential and a 0.020 intermediate differential. For the cover, Storm relies on the highly polished ERG Pearl Reactive coverstock. This combination of the enormous asymmetric core and the low-friction shell should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly and save all of its energy for a massive, asymmetric kick on the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the regular Storm Zero Gravity, which uses a matte solid cover, the Gold version behaves extremely differently through the heads and offers a drastic, angular backend motion. Next to the Storm Crux Pearl, the Zero Gravity Gold delivers far more angular length, but its massive engine builds a similarly powerful hook at the breakpoint. When friction on the lane is high and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, the Gold conserves its energy excellently.
On the Lanes
The Storm Zero Gravity Gold is ideally suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume. For strokers and bowlers with moderate ball speed, it offers the option of playing deeper lines, since the shell saves energy while the asymmetric core provides the massive response off the breakpoint. The enormous drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry. On fresh, extremely heavy oil, however, this ball can lack traction because of the polished finish.
