BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Nuclear Cell comes in the striking Purple Haze/Burnt Orange/Red Hot color combination and belongs to Roto Grip's High Performance category. Technically, the ball is built around the asymmetric Nucleus Core with a 2.52 RG (15 lbs), a 0.056 differential and a 0.018 MB differential. The new eTrax-P20 Pearl Reactive coverstock arrives out of the box in a 1500-grit polished finish. Thanks to new chemical additives, this further developed eTrax Pearl formulation should provide better traction in the midlane and more responsiveness to friction down lane.
Comparison
In a direct comparison, the Nuclear Cell looks similar to the Storm Astrophysix, though with less of a hockey-stick reaction. On fresh medium oil conditions, the ball proved cleaner to the breakpoint than both the Halo Vision and the Idol Pro. Against the Hyper Cell Fused, the Nuclear Cell reads earlier and comes off the spot harder, while it plays somewhat stronger than the Halo Pearl. Its defining characteristic is the combination of a clean, angular reaction with a heavy asymmetric roll, making it an alternative to the even more angular Storm Phaze III.
On the Lanes
The Nuclear Cell handles considerably more oil volume than typical pearl balls and suits fresh patterns with medium to high volume, while it is too strong for lower oil volumes. The ball prefers room and more open angles, since it is too angular for a direct line, and it can chase deep when needed. In practice, it often comes into play when balls like the Storm Axiom, Idol or Phaze 2 hook too early and length is needed to get through early friction. Basically any style can use the Nuclear Cell, especially as a first option if you prefer a strong, shiny pearl on fresh, medium-volume patterns. For more length and a stronger reaction, the original surface can be left as is, while a light scuff delivers an earlier and smoother reaction.
