BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Roto Grip MVP comes in a striking Orange Pearl with Blue Solid and uses the symmetrical Neutron NXT core with a 2.55 RG and a 0.040 differential in 15 and 14 pound weights. The VTC-H19 Hybrid Reactive coverstock arrives out of the box polished to 1500 grit and combines equal parts pearl and solid into a balanced mix. The new hybrid cover should be responsive and versatile, while the Neutron NXT core is based on the original Neutron core from the Wrecker series and should provide more length along with strong motion at the breakpoint.
Comparison
Compared to the Hustle HSB, the MVP's motion is similar out to roughly 40-42 feet, then the core and cover take over and the ball goes a bit longer to the breakpoint and reacts better in the backend. While the Hot Shot core in the Winner balls has a high differential of about 0.050 and the Hustles are very smooth at 0.030, the MVP finds a middle ground with its 0.040 differential between the smoothness of the Hustles and the punch of the Winners. Compared to the Storm Match Up BRB, the MVP is slightly earlier, smoother and stronger. The motion is strongly reminiscent of the Wrecker, but is a bit earlier and shapes more downlane.
On the Lanes
Designed as a transition ball for when stronger balls become too early, the MVP should also shine on higher friction lane surfaces and the conditions that go with them. The MVP is extremely clean through the heads and then makes a strong move off the breakpoint, but it needs enough dry to support its big downlane motion. This isn't really a fresh-shot ball; it should be saved for when the pattern opens up a bit. Many bowlers can use this ball successfully on their medium to medium-dry house shots, and the crisp downlane motion should increase carry. The challenge is that this isn't a particularly strong cover, which makes it susceptible to carrydown or transition - once that sets in, it seems to lose its traction in the midlane.
