First Impressions
The Roto Grip Menace turns heads with its aggressive asymmetric build. At its center works the massive asymmetric Nucleus core, which comes with a 2.520 RG, a huge 0.056 differential and an intermediate differential of 0.018. This core is wrapped in the extremely strong 74H Solid Reactive coverstock, finished with a dull 3000 grit Abralon surface. The medium RG lets the core rotate reliably, which in combination with the rough cover should make the ball grab extremely early and generate a huge, heavy motion.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Roto Grip Eternal Cell, which uses a pearl cover, the Menace shows a drastically earlier and far rounder, more controlled reaction in oil. Compared to the Storm Alpha Crux, the Menace behaves extremely similarly, but thanks to the legendary Nucleus core it often offers an even slightly more consistent change of direction at the breakpoint. Once the transition sets in during a block and friction on the outside boards increases, the solid surface loses energy extremely quickly.
On the Lanes
The Roto Grip Menace was developed specifically for use on heavily oiled lane conditions. It allows you to generate the hook needed to cross boards effectively even on extremely fresh oil. The asymmetric core should optimize carry through a steady, heavy entry angle into the pocket. For dry or dried-up conditions this ball is completely overqualified; it burns up its energy in the heads and reaches the pins only weakly.
