First Impressions
The Roto Grip Sinister stands out with an extremely bright Black, Blue and Yellow Solid look. Inside works the massive asymmetric Cage core, characterized by a 2.520 RG and a huge 0.054 differential. For the cover, Roto Grip relies on the extremely tacky 76H Solid Reactive coverstock, sanded to 4000 grit out of the box. These specs should make the ball rev up extremely early and travel extremely securely through the heads on oiled lanes. The cover and the core provide the perfect mix of maximum asymmetry and brutal midlane bite.
Comparison
In a direct comparison with the Roto Grip Menace, the Sinister shows extremely similar ball motion through the heads, but delivers a marginally more arcing reaction at the breakpoint thanks to cover fine-tuning. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, the Sinister offers a comparably massive, flaring hook due to its strong differential. When the transition changes the lane and dry spots appear, the matte surface keeps the ball from losing energy at the breakpoint. It hits with authority.
On the Lanes
The Roto Grip Sinister is most at home on heavily oiled lane conditions. It is an outstanding option if you are looking for a clean and enormously massive ball motion when the lanes are freshly oiled. The asymmetric core creates a massive angle at the breakpoint, which builds confidence when playing direct lines in the oil. The ball should secure carry through its steady entry into the pocket. On very dry patterns, however, it can burn up immediately.
