First Impressions
The Radical Quick Fix arrived in July 2017 as a technologically sophisticated addition to the high-performance segment. Visually, the ball comes in a combination of black, blue and silver solid/pearl. The unique selling point of this ball is the patented Shapeshifter Core. This core offers a one-of-a-kind versatility: it is engineered so that, depending on the specific drilling layout, it either retains its original symmetrical character or can be transformed into an asymmetrical core with significant mass bias (intermediate differential). In the base configuration it delivers an RG of 2.511 at 15 pounds and a high differential of 0.054. This technology is wrapped in the KJ-74 Hybrid Reactive coverstock. The surface is finished at the factory with 500 and 1500 Siaair Micro Pads, creating a dull, tacky texture that should provide traction without burning up the energy too early.
Comparison Compared to the original Radical The Fix, which had a solid cover, the Quick Fix shows a noticeably quicker response time to friction at the end of the oil pattern. Where the original rolled extremely early and described a very round motion, the Quick Fix uses the hybrid component to generate more length through the heads and to turn more definitively at the breakpoint. Compared to the Radical More Cash, an absolute heavy-oil specialist, the Quick Fix is more versatile and covers a broader range of conditions, since it doesn't anchor up in the oil right away. Depending on the drilling, the Quick Fix can either run similarly controlled and arcing to a Storm Phaze II (symmetrical layout) or, with an asymmetrical layout, develop a corner-happy motion that is more comparable to a Hammer Black Widow.
On the Lanes The ideal application range for the Radical Quick Fix is medium to heavy oil patterns. Thanks to the unique core technology, it can be adapted to almost any player type. If you're looking for control, choose the symmetrical layout to get through the heads calmly and play a smooth arc into the pocket. If you need more hook and a sharper entry angle, you can activate the intermediate differential with an asymmetrical layout and make the ball more aggressive. The dull hybrid surface always provides enough hold in the oil to keep it from sliding through. It works excellently as the first ball out of the bag to read the lane, and the hybrid cover leaves enough in reserve to keep securing carry once the transition begins.
