First Impressions
The Radical Guru Pearl Limited draws plenty of attention with its deep Black Pearl design. At its center works the proven asymmetric Guru core, which comes with a 2.490 RG, a massive 0.052 differential and a 0.018 intermediate differential. This core is wrapped in a pearl reactive coverstock polished to an extreme high gloss with 500 Siaair, Royal Compound and Royal Shine. The low RG gets the core revving up very quickly, but the heavily polished shell should let the ball glide effortlessly through the heads and dump all of its energy in a massive backend move.
Comparison
Compared directly to the original Radical Guru with its extremely dull solid cover, the Pearl Limited version shows drastically more length and an incomparably sharper reaction at the breakpoint. Compared to the Storm Snap Lock, the Guru Pearl Limited behaves very similarly, though the Guru's asymmetric core often transitions into the roll phase a touch more aggressively. When the transition sets in during the block and friction increases, the pearl shell takes perfect advantage of that dryness to generate a massive hook.
On the Lanes
The Radical Guru Pearl Limited was developed specifically for medium to slightly dried-up lane conditions. It lets you play deep angles across the boards, since the cover saves energy while the strong core delivers the response off the breakpoint. The pronounced asymmetric core should optimize carry through an extremely steep entry angle into the pocket. On fresh, heavily oiled conditions, however, the pearl shell skids too far through, which is why it shines as a change-up ball.
