First Impressions
The Hammer Redemption Pearl comes in an attractive color combination of black, blue and gold. The new Redemption asymmetric core shows strong numbers for more overall hook. In 15 pounds the ball has a 2.498 RG, a .053 differential and a .015 mass bias differential. The specs point to high flare potential. The Aggression NE Pearl cover gets through the heads easily and has a sharp breakpoint. The surface is shipped polished with 500 Siaair / Crown Factory Compound. New to the Hammer line is DOT technology, which makes it possible to drill anywhere, making this ball even stronger. Along with DOT there is an orange inner core, and the outer core is reinforced with carbon fiber.
Comparison
Hammer's intent is for this ball to complement the Redemption Solid once the oil leaves the lanes and they start to change. With more length, a smoother backend and without giving up midlane read, the Redemption Pearl is an amazing complement to the Redemption Solid. This ball is also a great option when you need more flare and a "bigger footprint" than a symmetrical bowling ball like the Fugitive Pearl. If you were a fan of the Statement Pearl back when Hammer bowling balls were poured in Hopkinsville, this ball will be very similar with a bit more power. The Redemptions are very reminiscent of the RipD balls with their standing-up, forward-rolling characteristics.
On the Lanes
Hammerheads will love the Redemption Pearl when the Redemption Solid has used up the lane and you need a high-end ball to get down there and deliver big backend motion along with devastating hitting power. This ball is my favorite when I'm bowling on fairly wet/dry and "steep" patterns. Down-and-in players with lower rev rates or less axis rotation can really benefit from this heavy roll. This bowling ball isn't as angular for me as I thought it would be, but I'm impressed by the predictable motion. For me the pearl ingredient actually helps it read the midlane well, like the Redemption Solid. The ball is said to have been developed for medium to heavy oil conditions and works particularly well as a complement to the more aggressive solid in the same series when the lanes dry up or more length is required.
