BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Hammer Web Tour, released in December 2018, is a ball that came to market with one very clear mission: pure control. Visually it's the ultimate understatement — a deep "Onyx Black" that looks almost invisible on the ball return. The finish, however, is anything but restrained: with an extremely coarse 360/1000 Abralon surface out of the box, the ball signals that it's looking for traction immediately. Inside works the modified Spheroid TE Core (Tour Edition). This symmetrical core was developed specifically to emulate the numbers of the famous "Teal" balls of the past. At 15 lbs it delivers a very low RG of 2.47 and a deliberately low differential of 0.030. This combination — low RG and very little flare — together with the TourV1 solid cover, aims to "tame" the lane. It's not a ball for big curves, but a tool to eliminate overreaction and produce an extremely predictable motion.
Comparison
The most obvious and most important comparison is to the Storm IQ Tour (Solid). The Hammer Web Tour is Hammer's direct answer to that legendary ball. Head to head, the two behave very similarly: both offer extreme hold through the midlane and little backend movement. The Web Tour is often perceived as a tick earlier and grabbier, which comes down to the more aggressive 1000 finish (the IQ Tour is often a bit smoother out of the box). Compared to the original Hammer Web (Hybrid), the Tour version is the complete opposite on the backend: the original Web has a defined kick, while the Web Tour simply keeps rolling forward. Against a urethane ball like the Purple Hammer, the Web Tour offers similar control, but thanks to the reactive material it gives better carry (pin action) when you have to play deeper on the lane and urethane would no longer have enough energy.
On the Lanes
The Hammer Web Tour is an indispensable "must-have" for tournament players and difficult sport patterns. It shines on flat oil patterns, where the outside part of the lane isn't dry and there's no margin for error. Its greatest strength is minimizing mistakes: throw it a little too far outside and it comes back gently; pull it inside and it holds the line without jumping. It's perfect for making "wet/dry" house shots (a hard edge between oil and dry) playable, because it smooths out the transition completely. It is not the right choice, however, if you need to open up the lane or want to throw a big hook; it lacks the flare potential for that. It's a ball for playing straight and through the oil, one that puts safety over spectacle.
