BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The Hammer Rip'D was introduced in February 2018 as part of a dual release and comes in an eye-catching color combination of black, gold and white. It marks a technological step forward within the brand, as it uses the specially developed asymmetric Rip'D core. This core represents a hybrid evolution that combines design elements from the successful Scandal and Gauntlet series. With a 2.48 RG and a 0.054 differential at 15 pounds, the engine is built for strong roll with high flare potential. The distinguishing feature is the Aggression Hybrid CFI coverstock, which is reinforced with carbon fibers (Carbon Fiber Infusion). This construction should not only increase durability but also improve energy transfer at impact. Out of the box, the ball ships with a 500/1000 Abralon finish that is then treated with Powerhouse Factory Finish Polish, giving it a glossy look.
Comparison Compared to its simultaneously released sibling, the Hammer Rip'D Solid, the Hammer Rip'D offers a noticeably longer skid phase through the heads. While the solid version starts working very early in the midlane and describes a continuous arc, the Hammer Rip'D shows a more angular reaction at the breakpoint. Placed next to the Storm Phaze II, it becomes clear that the Hammer Rip'D makes a more aggressive change of direction as soon as it hits friction, thanks to its asymmetric core structure. Against the Roto Grip Halo, the Hammer Rip'D offers more push through the first half of the lane, which makes it more controllable on lanes with somewhat worn heads. Within the brand, compared to the Hammer Scandal, the Hammer Rip'D proves considerably more versatile, since it is less prone to "giving up" in the midlane and keeps more backend in reserve for carry.
On the Lanes The Hammer Rip'D is primarily designed for medium to heavier oil volumes, but it plays to its strengths best once the heads have broken down slightly or the transition begins. The polished surface lets it glide effortlessly across the first boards and save its energy for an explosive reaction in the pocket. If you throw the ball fast, it offers enough traction not to slide past the breakpoint, while bowlers with a moderate rev rate benefit from the support of the asymmetric core. It works excellently as a transition ball when a heavy solid reacts too early and no longer hits the pocket precisely. On typical house shots, the Hammer Rip'D allows deeper angles, since it has the cornering ability needed to come back from inside. The carbon fiber technology in the cover also provides remarkable carry, even at less than ideal entry angles.
