First Impressions
The Hammer Scandal grabs everyone's attention with its Blue, Green and Black solid design. At its center sits the massive symmetric Scandal Core, featuring a 2.490 RG and a huge 0.054 differential. That core is wrapped in the extremely strong Semtex Solid Reactive coverstock, finished with a dull 500 and 2000 Abralon surface. The low RG gets the core revving quickly, which in combination with the heavy cover should make the ball grab extremely early and produce an incredibly strong, rolling motion through the midlane.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Hammer Rebel with its smooth pearl shell, the Scandal shows a dramatically earlier and far rounder reaction. Compared to the Storm Phaze II, the Scandal behaves very similarly, but offers even higher flare potential and practically eats its way through the oil. Once the transition sets in during a block and friction increases on the outside boards, the Scandal's extreme solid surface loses usable energy extremely fast. It needs a massive oil base.
On the Lanes
The Hammer Scandal was developed specifically for use on heavy oil lane conditions. It lets you generate the hook needed to cross boards effectively even on extremely fresh oil. The strongly rolling symmetric core should optimize carry through a steady, heavy entry angle. For dry or dried-up conditions this ball is completely overqualified; it burns up its energy in the heads and misses the pocket entirely.
