First Impressions
The Hammer Tough Carbon Fiber turns every head with its classy black and gold solid design. At its center sits a high-density 3-piece pancake core with a high RG. This core is wrapped in an extremely durable Carbon Fiber urethane / polyester blend coverstock finished to a high gloss. The high RG keeps the core from revving up much, which in combination with the smooth cover should let the ball glide through the heads effortlessly and produce an incredibly straight, non-reactive motion.
Comparison
Compared directly with reactive balls, the Tough Carbon Fiber shows completely dead-straight ball motion and a non-reactive move at the breakpoint. Compared with the Storm Ice Storm, the Hammer behaves extremely similarly as a spare ball. Once the transition sets in during a block, the extremely hard shell stores no energy for a hook. It's enormously strong on spares and on dry lanes, since it reacts to friction not at all.
On the Lanes
The Hammer Tough Carbon Fiber was developed purely for use as a spare ball. It lets you generate the straight path you need even on dried-up conditions in order to attack single pins effectively. The core should keep the ball rolling flat into the pocket with no entry angle. This ball is absolutely not meant for the first shot; it doesn't use up its energy properly in the heads and it doesn't hook.
