BOWLING BALL INFOS

First Impressions
The DV8 Hell Raiser Return comes in an eye-catching red/yellow/black color combination and brings back the well-known name of the first DV8 generation, though with completely reworked technology. The ball uses the asymmetric Hell Raiser DOT core with a 2.537 RG, a 0.053 differential and a 0.016 mass bias differential, which allows for a high flare potential. The cover is the Inciter Max Flip Pearl Reactive coverstock, finished with 500/1000/1500 SiaAir and Crown Factory Compound. In addition, the ball features Durability Optimization Technology (DOT) and DynamiCore, which should increase durability and provide more hitting power at the pins.
Comparison
Compared directly to the DV8 Damn Good Verge, the Hell Raiser Return offers the ability to open up angles and create a stronger directional change in the dry. Compared to other current releases such as the Brunswick Results Plus, the Hell Raiser Return shows more length with more backend reaction. The ball shows a big midlane reaction with strong continuation to the pocket, developing a pronounced turn off the breakpoint and driving powerfully through the backend of the lane. Within the DV8 lineup it complements the sanded Hell Raiser Blaze perfectly as the pearl option with more length and stronger backend performance.
On the Lanes
The Hell Raiser Return is designed for medium to heavy oil conditions and should deliver a strong midlane reaction with a pronounced backend there. Crankers in particular can use the ball successfully on fresh medium patterns, since the factory finish and the pearl coverstock let you start further left and play open angles with room for misses to the left and right. Despite the shiny surface, the ball never slides excessively through the oil, which makes transitions easy to handle. The pearl makeup in combination with the multi-step surface prep should provide good length with a strong downlane response. The ball is ideal if you're looking for a combination of controllable length and explosive backend reaction without losing predictability through the transition phases.
