First Impressions
The DV8 Grudge Hybrid stands out with its dynamic purple, blue, and white color blend. At the heart of this model is the asymmetric Grudge Low RG core, which carries a 2.490 RG, a massive 0.056 differential, and a 0.014 intermediate differential. The cover is the Composite Hook Hybrid, finished out of the box with a 500, 1000, and 4000 Siaair Micro Pad surface. This combination of a strong asymmetric core and lightly scuffed hybrid finish should let the ball get through the heads cleanly while building enormous traction in the midlane.
Comparison
Compared to the original DV8 Grudge with its all-solid cover, the Grudge Hybrid offers noticeably more length and a sharper backend reaction. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, the asymmetric core of the Grudge Hybrid produces a very similar, massive change of direction at the breakpoint. Once the lane starts to transition, the hybrid cover of the Grudge Hybrid uses the developing friction more efficiently than all-solid models. The hook stays aggressive even on slightly dried-up boards without losing energy right away.
On the Lanes
This ball reaches its full potential on heavy to medium lane conditions. Thanks to the hybrid cover, it reads the boards reliably yet still offers enough length to save energy for the pins. As bowlers start moving and adjusting their lines, the Grudge Hybrid provides enough backend reaction to drive back into the pocket confidently. Carry benefits from the enormous core, since the ball develops strong drive at impact. For very dry lanes, though, the ball is often still too strong.
