First Impressions
The DV8 Grudge presents itself in a menacing Black, Purple and White Solid color combination. Inside sits the powerful asymmetric Grudge Low RG Core with a 2.490 RG, an extremely high differential of 0.056 and an intermediate differential of 0.014. The outer layer consists of the Composite Hook Solid Reactive cover, which comes extremely dull out of the box, finished with a 500 and 1000 Siaair pad. This combination of an extremely early-rolling core and a heavily roughened shell should make the ball dig massively through the heads and develop a huge, heavy reaction in oil.
Comparison
Compared to the DV8 Vandal Smash, the Grudge offers noticeably more overall hook and a far stronger asymmetric reaction in oil. Against the Storm Alpha Crux, the asymmetric core of the Grudge delivers an extremely similar weight distribution and enormous midlane traction. Once the lane transition sets in and friction on the boards increases, the extremely rough shell of the Grudge burns up its energy very quickly. The hook is extremely early and flattens out drastically on dry lanes.
On the Lanes
This ball reaches its full potential exclusively on heavy lane conditions. Thanks to the rough solid surface, it reads the boards early and saves its massive power for pushing through heavy oil volumes. If you play direct or slightly deeper lines on heavily oiled patterns, the Grudge provides enough bite to pull reliably into the pocket. Carry benefits from the enormous engine. On dry lanes, however, the ball is completely unsuitable and uncontrollable.
