First Impressions
The DV8 Outcast catches the eye in a range of bright colors aimed at beginners and league bowlers. Inside works the symmetrical Outcast Core with a high RG of 2.571 and a low differential of 0.022. For the cover, DV8 relies on the Class 1 Reactive Cover, polished to a high shine out of the box with 500 Siaair and Royal Compound. This combination of the extremely late-revving core and the low-friction shell should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly and save its energy for a moderate kick on the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the DV8 Hooligan, the Outcast is far weaker in the heads and offers an extremely tame backend motion. Against the Storm Tropical Breeze, the Outcast delivers very similar length and builds an almost identical, gentle hook at the breakpoint. When friction on the lane is high and the transition dries up the front part of the lane, the Outcast retains its energy very well and makes a moderate move without any wild jumps.
On the Lanes
The DV8 Outcast is best suited to lane conditions with extremely light oil volume. For strokers and bowlers with slow ball speed, it offers the option of playing direct lines, since the cover stores energy. The gentle drive toward the pocket should provide solid carry. On fresh, extremely heavy oil, however, this ball can come up completely short on traction due to the polished finish and the weak layout.
