The Columbia 300 Deep Freeze Coral Splash arrives in an extremely bright Coral and White Pearl color combination. At the heart of this model sits the legendary symmetrical Modified Messenger Core, which is distinguished by an extremely high RG and a comparatively moderate differential. The shell is a pearl reactive coverstock with traction potential but a polished look, brought to a high gloss out of the box. The high RG makes the core rev up very late, while the smooth cover should let the ball glide extremely safely through the heads and build up little hold.
Comparison
Compared with strong solid balls, the Deep Freeze Coral Splash grabs extremely late and offers a considerably more stable, tamer reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Tropical Breeze, the Deep Freeze produces a very similar, moderate motion on dry lanes. As soon as the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up completely, the Deep Freeze is in its element. It needs dry boards to carry its gentle dynamics into the pins without overreacting.
On the Lanes
The Columbia 300 Deep Freeze Coral Splash finds its preferred home on extremely dry lane conditions. It is the perfect choice if you need a ball on completely burnt-up patterns that slides easily through the heads and produces a steady, small hook toward the pocket. The weak reaction helps keep you from overthrowing the breakpoint. The ball should help secure carry at low ball speeds. On fresh oil, however, this ball is unplayable.
