First Impressions
The Ebonite Legacy presents itself as a powerful addition to the arsenal. Built around the Legacy Asymmetric core, this ball delivers an extremely stable foundation for demanding conditions with a 2.50 RG and a 0.051 differential (intermediate differential: 0.022). The Traction SF Hybrid cover provides outstanding traction in the early phases of the lane. Thanks to the factory 1000 Siaair / Polished surface, the ball reads the midlane very early and develops consistent rotation. Visually it is very attractive and signals at first glance that it is aimed at heavy oil and control. The combination of asymmetric design and this cover means the ball loses hardly any energy in the heads and shows a strong presence.
Comparison
Compared directly to the Phaze II, the Legacy shows a noticeably smoother and more controlled reaction. Where other models often react too aggressively to the transition, this ball maintains a predictable path. The Storm Phaze II does offer a bit more length through the first two thirds of the lane, but it lacks the sheer traction the Legacy builds in the pocket. If you find the Phaze II too jumpy, you'll find the stability you need here. The ball is more forgiving of release mistakes than comparable asymmetric balls, yet still keeps the power needed to clear the pins effectively. It shows its strengths against the direct competition especially on changing conditions.
On the Lanes
For practical use on the lanes, this ball is recommended above all on long, high-volume oil patterns. When the heads are sufficiently oiled, it can unlock its full potential and delivers a continuous hook toward the pocket. It picks up the friction at the end of the oil pattern gently but decisively, which leads to excellent carry. If you throw the ball fast, this is the perfect choice for hitting the pocket reliably. Once the lane dries up as play goes on and the transition sets in, it makes sense to plan a ball change, since it could react too early on dry boards. All in all, it is an absolute benchmark ball for wet conditions that fully lives up to the demands of modern performance features and should deliver consistently high results on the scoreboard.
