First Impressions
The Motiv Covert Revolt comes in a classic black and red solid color combination. The heart of this model is the symmetrical Vanquish core, which stands out with a low 2.470 RG and a strong 0.056 differential. The cover is the tacky Turmoil HFS Solid Reactive coverstock, finished out of the box with a 3000 grit LSS surface. The low RG lets the core rev up very definitely, while the roughed-up shell should let the ball glide extremely safely through the heads and still build reliable, smooth traction in the midlane.
Comparison
Compared to the Motiv Revolt Havoc, the Covert Revolt picks up marginally later and offers a considerably more stable, arcing reaction at the breakpoint. Against the Storm Phaze II, the Covert Revolt creates a very similar, moderate motion on oiled lanes with a strong hook at the end. As soon as the transition sets in and the front part of the lane dries up, this ball is extremely effective. It uses the friction perfectly to react powerfully yet under control, without snapping off the edge.
On the Lanes
The Motiv Covert Revolt finds its preferred territory on medium to heavy lane conditions. It's the perfect choice if you need a ball on broken-down patterns that digs hard in the midlane and produces a steady hook toward the pocket. The solid reaction helps keep you from overthrowing the breakpoint. The ball should secure carry through a clean entry angle. On heavily dried-up oil, however, this ball is often too strong.
