First Impressions
The Storm !Q Tour Fusion stands out in a classy blue and bronze hybrid look. Inside works the proven symmetrical C³ Centripetal Control Core with a 2.490 RG and a very low differential of 0.029. For the surface, Storm relies on the highly polished R2S Hybrid Reactive cover, finished out of the box at 1500 grit polished. This combination of an extremely controlled core and a low-friction shell should let the ball clear the heads effortlessly and save all of its energy for a very smooth kick on the backend.
Comparison
Compared directly to the regular Storm IQ Tour Solid, which uses a matte cover, the Fusion behaves very differently in the heads and offers a more dramatic, somewhat more agile backend motion. Against the Storm Hy-Road, the Fusion delivers considerably cleaner length, but builds a controlled hook at the breakpoint thanks to its strong engine. When friction on the lane is high and transition dries up the front part of the lane, the Fusion preserves its energy very well and reacts consistently.
On the Lanes
The Storm !Q Tour Fusion is best suited to lane conditions with medium oil volume. For strokers and if you throw at moderate ball speed, it offers the option of playing direct lines, since the cover stores energy while the symmetrical core provides the steady response off the end of the pattern. The powerful drive toward the pocket should deliver convincing carry. On fresh, extremely heavy oil, however, this ball can lack traction because of the polished finish.
